We are a boutique design and global sourcing firm, founded in 2020 by Jason Jones—a 35-year footwear industry veteran with deep expertise in product development, creative direction, and supply chain strategy. From the start, JJ built the company around craftsmanship, adaptability, and trusted partnerships.
JJ began his career in the shoemaking workshops of Maine, learning firsthand from pattern engineers and factory craftsmen. This early training shaped a lasting perspective—merging traditional technique with modern design and manufacturing insight, while managing design, product development, and production from concept through completion. Over the years, JJ has led programs for national retailers, global brands, and emerging DTC companies, managing design and production across continents.
He launched Sterling Design Group to provide clients with an agile, integrated solution that bridges design and strategic sourcing. Our design studio in Dallas, Texas integrates American market insights with old world craftsmanship. We remain proudly independent, focused on long-term value, and committed to building meaningful products—and partnerships—that last.

This includes premium leathers, performance textiles, and durable outsole components suited for everything from casual to technical applications. Additionally, we procure trims, hardware, and decorative accessories to complete and elevate the overall design and functionality.
Commercialization
We initiate and execute production confirmation through approval samples, ensuring alignment with design, quality, and fit expectations for full-scale manufacturing. We manage costing functions by negotiating target pricing with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure product feasibility and margin goals. Our team also oversees fit and cost engineering, component testing, and maintaining technical fit standards throughout the development phases.
